Introduction to bypass HEPA
HEPA, or High-Efficiency Particulate Arrestance, filters are among the most effective filters available today. They were first developed during the Second World War to remove hazardous radioactive dust from manufacturing exhaust. To earn the HEPA designation, a filter must capture 99.97% of particles measuring 0.3 microns. The AirSentinel system meets this standard and removes particles as small as 0.01 microns.
Whole-house bypass HEPA installation
Why a bypass design?
Forcing all of your home's air directly through a HEPA filter usually demands a lot of fan power. The AirSentinel system avoids this by sitting parallel to, rather than directly in, the main airstream. Polluted air is pulled through the filter over multiple passes, working alongside a pre-filter that captures larger particles first. With this design, the system can run at peak performance for up to two years before the HEPA filter needs replacing.
Add gas-phase filtration with the EDGE carbon system
The EDGE Gas Phase Carbon System installs directly into the whole-house bypass HEPA unit, adding strong VOC removal alongside particle filtration. It delivers a 70 to 80% single-pass removal rate for volatile organic compounds, with even, predictable airflow that avoids the settling, shedding, and high static pressure common in older gas-phase systems.
- Built for high airflow applications, up to 500 feet per minute
- Withstands high temperatures, up to 150°F
- Media blends tailored for effective contaminant removal
- Bidirectional airflow for flexible installation
- High-quality activated carbon with strong sorbent performance
Features and benefits
Safe and quiet operation
A quiet, compact, lightweight design with a thermally insulated cabinet. The motor pulls air through the pre-filter and pushes it through the carbon and HEPA media, isolating sound from airflow and the motor itself.
HEPA rated
Includes a pleated pre-filter for large particles and a carbon-activated filter that absorbs everyday household odours. The HEPA filter is 99.97% efficient down to 0.01 microns, and the system is UL and CSA certified.
Easy to maintain
A front access door lets you change filters easily, and the motor automatically shuts off when the door opens for safe servicing. HEPA filters should be replaced every two years; carbon and pre-filters about twice a year.
Flexible installation
Can be duct-mounted or collar-mounted, adapting to most types of heating and cooling systems.
