SolaceAir is your indoor air quality expert

Our mission is to provide advanced, affordable products that improve indoor air quality, reduce energy use, and lessen the impact on the environment, all proudly made in Canada.

Our Canadian roots

In 1982, two professors at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario, started a small company to develop their inventions. One of the most promising was a polarized media air cleaner designed for homes and light commercial buildings. They began manufacturing 1-inch and 2-inch polarized media air cleaners, along with room console and ceiling-mount units.

That early Canadian innovation grew into what is now Dynamic Air Quality Solutions, and SolaceAir is proud to bring that same technology, made right here in Canada, to Canadian homes from coast to coast.

Manufactured in Carleton Place, Ontario

Our primary manufacturing facility is located in Carleton Place, Ontario, an ever-expanding plant that has been producing polarized media air cleaners since the company's early days. From there, our products are shipped across Canada and around the world.

Today, our parent company invests heavily in research and development, expanding its technology to meet the growing demand for energy-efficient, healthy indoor air in homes, schools, hospitals, and many other buildings. Throughout it all, the common goal remains the same: helping homeowners and building owners achieve excellent indoor air quality without the energy and maintenance costs of older filtration methods.

How our technology works

SolaceAir air cleaners use active-field, non-ionizing polarized media technology. Inside the air cleaner, an active electrostatic field creates a positive side and a negative side on the fibres of the media and on particles in the air, without generating ionized particles. The polarized particles are then drawn toward the polarized fibres and held there.

While our team has refined this process over decades, the basic principle is old. The word "electricity" actually comes from the Greek word for amber, "elektra," after people noticed that dust would jump onto a piece of amber once it had been rubbed with cloth. That same natural force is what our air cleaners put to work in your home today.

Canadian case studies

See how SolaceAir and Dynamic Air Quality Solutions technology performs in real Canadian buildings, from hospitals to airports to commercial towers.

Royal Victoria Hospital

Montreal, QC · McGill University Health Centre

Odours from outdoor air and cigarette smoke were migrating into the hospital through the ventilation system. After Dynamic 2" V-Banks were installed in the air handling units, odour complaints dropped and a blind test with foul-smelling material showed no odour passing through downstream.

Victoria International Airport Terminal

Victoria, BC · Airport Terminal

During a $21 million, six-phase expansion, jet exhaust odours were a recurring complaint in the terminal and baggage areas. Twenty-six Dynamic Tandem Air Cleaners were installed across the new and existing air handling units, and the odour complaints stopped — leading the airport to specify Dynamic cleaners for every later phase.

Class A Office Tower: 947 Fort Street

Victoria, BC · 44,000 sq. ft., LEED® Gold

Designed from the ground up for LEED Gold certification, this new office tower used Dynamic V8 Air Cleaning Systems (MERV 13-15+) to cut fan energy versus passive filters and extend filter replacement from months to years, while removing ultra-fine particles and odours.

HSBC Tower Office Building

Prince George, BC · 10-story office building

A turnkey HVAC retrofit added Dynamic V8 Air Cleaning Systems alongside new chillers and controls, cutting energy costs by more than 50 percent and saving over $150,000 a year combined in electricity and gas. Nine years on, the original filter media was still performing with no added pressure drop.
